Veronica Webb broke a major, longstanding color barrier in modeling in 1992, when she signed a multi-million-dollar contract to be a spokesperson for Revlon. Already one of the most sought-after “supermodels” at the time; she attained one of the modeling world’s most exclusive coveted positions when she started working for Revlon.
These contracts are extremely lucrative, with intense global competition. Due to the ubiquity of their television commercials and print ads, models with contacts frequently become stars. Remarkably, she did the unheard of, when she undertook most of the negotiations for the Revlon contract herself. Talk about a GIRL BOSS!
This career goal was only one of many for Veronica, who has also made a name for herself as a journalist. She has been a contributor of columns, interviews, and articles to Paper, Elle, Interview, Mademoiselle, Details, The Sunday Times, The New York Times, Cookie Magazine & Esquire.
Her powerful contacts within entertainment & modeling, have given her access to the leaders of the fashion industry & top Hollywood personalities, allowing her to interview such well-known names as Spike Lee. Miramax Books published “Veronica Webb Sight: Adventures In The Big City“, a collection of autobiographical essays.
Veronica Webb has long been highly regarded in the industry for her intelligence, and shrewd business sense. She is definitely not just a beautiful face, nor does she wish to just be regarded as one. Although, this Supermodel has run three NY Marathons, she always beams with pride that her greatest role is as a wife, and mother to her beautiful children.
In addition to her success in modeling, she has had great success as an actress in films, including such blockbusters as “Jungle Fever“, and “Malcolm X.” Her film credits also include “Someone Like You“, “The Big Tease.” She has had a recurring role on the television show “Damon“, and has appeared on “Just Shoot Me!“, “Becker” and “Clueless.” In 2006, Veronica Webb also appeared in the independent film “Dirty Laundry.”
Veronica Webb’s personal style has been closely followed for her ability to mix “street style” with high-end designers. She was named to Vogue’s Best Dressed List three times. Having a background in the arts, she was able to lend her own style ideas to her close friend, Azzedine Alaïa, many of which were reflected in his designs. She has been a favorite runway model for many designers, including such luminaries as Karl Lagerfeld, Versace, Chanel, Kanye West, Victoria’s Secret, Isaac Mizrahi, & Calvin Klein.
Veronica Webb has appeared on the covers of all the coveted fashion magazines including: Vogue, Marie Claire, Essence, Washington Post Magazine, Bombshell, I-D, Harper’s Bazaar, AMICA, and countless others.
Asked in the New York Times, if she felt modeling presents women with an unrealistic standard of beauty, and undermines their efforts to be viewed as intellectual equals to men, Webb responded. “Women are always judged on their looks—that’s a given—and I’ve put myself in that position in front of the world,” she declared. “It’s like going to a car lot and I’m one of the products there…What’s unreality? That I’m in a profession where I get to make my own schedule, where I can’t be replaced by a man, where I have enough affluence that I don’t have to put up with anything and where women make more than men? I don’t see why that should be unreality for women.” Clearly, she is not to be trifled with, and understands a woman’s true power.
Regarded as an insider’s insider in the world of fashion, Veronica Webb strarred as co-host of Bravo’s TV’s “Guide To Style” with fashion guru Tim Gunn and was chosen to be the lifestyle expert for “Good Morning America”, “BBC World” and The Sundance Channel’s “On the Line” and “Yahoo! Style with Joe Zee”.
Through her journey as a supermodel, beauty expert & fitness enthusiast, mother and wife, Veronica naturally became a lifestyle expert.
