Tommy Regan in “MIGHTY OAK” – Must See To Believe !!!
When watching Paramount Studio’s new film, “Mighty Oak ” (releasing June 5 in outdoor theaters, drive ins, and additional theaters , as restrictions allow) you can be forgiven for thinking ‘there’s no way that kid is really playing that guitar.” That’s what I thought, and I was blown away to learn that yes, he really is.
This incredible talent belongs to real-life prodigy, Tommy Regan; that is a name that you should remember, because this is just the start of what is sure to be a long, and prolific career.
Twelve year-old Tommy has showcased his talents before, while traveling with the national tour of School of Rock, but it is in Mighty Oak that he has an opportunity to not only act, play the guitar, sing , AND if that weren’t enough, he wrote all of the songs that the band plays in the film. One of his songs “Chasing” is what led to the creation of the film.
With this level of talent, one might think that Tommy is going to be the dreaded stereotype of a child star, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. In real life, Tommy is exactly as kid his age should be: funny, excited, loving to his family & friends, but most of all, down to earth, no doubt due to the close, loving guidance of his parents. While discussing his film debut with ChanceTV, his excitement and joyfulness were contagious. He even extemporaneously graced up with a concert that had all of us gathered around listening. His playing and singing have to be heard to be believed. Not to mention his song lyrics ; we couldn’t believe how a six year-old ( when Tommy started writing his music) could capture such emotion & life experience.
Mighty Oak is sure to please viewers, especially during the uncertainty with which we are all living right now. It tells a heartwarming story of family, loss, love, and how ultimately, it is that love which can help us to endure anything, and still find joy. Filling out the cast with Tommy (who stars as Oak Scoggins), are Janel Parrish, Ben Miliken, Alexa PenaVega, her husband Carlos, and Raven Simmone. When speaking with ChanceTV, Janel and Ben agreed that Tommy is one impressive musician and actor, and a joy to be around on set.
