Sports Illustrated Supermodel Halima Aden Interview with ChanceTV
Halima attended the “I AM YOU” world premiere at Pier 59 studios in NYC. Halima is Executive Producer of this incredible film. Supermodel Halima Aden is known for being the first woman to wear a hijab in the Miss Minnesota USA pageant. In 2018, Aden became a UNICEF ambassador. In May 2019, Aden became the first model to wear a hijab and a burkini in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
“I AM YOU” is an independent feature film based on the true story of Afghan refugees, their will to survive, and the dramatic conditions they endure on their journeys. Directed by Sonia Nassery Cole, we follow Massoud, a young man who embarks on a perilous migration from Afghanistan through Iran, Turkey, Greece and Germany, accompanied by a pregnant doctor and an aged wise man.
After witnessing the loss of his father at the hands of ISIS, Massoud vows to honor his late father’s wish to secure a safe future for his mother and sister away from the tyranny of the Taliban and ISIS.
65.6 million people are currently living as refugees or as displaced persons inside their countries. More than half of the world’s refugees are under the age of 18 with many children fleeing alone or separated from their parents.
