Krysten Ritter is an American actress, who starred as Marvel’s superhero Jessica Jones on the Netflix drama series Jessica Jones (2015–2019).
She has portrayed Chloe on the ABC comedy series Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 (2012–2013). Her performance earned her a prestigious Critics Choice nomination, a Saturn nomination, a Webby Award and a Glamour Best International TV Actress Award.
She signed with the Elite Model Management agency and Wilhelmina Models and continued on to establish herself as an international model, doing catalog, print and runway work in Milan, Paris, Tokyo and New York.
A musician herself, Ritter and her childhood friend William Thomas Burnett formed the NYC indie rock duo Ex Vivian. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2012.
As an author, Ritter’s debut novel, a psychological thriller titled Bonfire, was released in 2017.
Ritter is a fur mom to a little terrier with a natural mohawk, named Mikey. She’s also an advocate towards animal rights and has posed for PETA ad campaigns.
Her talents go beyond far as she also appeared on the cover of Vogue Knitting that showcased her knitting skills along with her collection of sizzling sweaters.
In 2015, Ritter starred in the Marvel Television series Jessica Jones, playing the title role, a former superhero who started a private detective agency in New York City for Netflix.
She reprised her role again in a second season in 2018 and even directed an episode in the third season of Jessica Jones, marking her directorial debut.
In 2019, before season 3 of the big drama series was released, Netflix announced its cancellation along with other Marvel shows.
After many speculations of her playing the role again, Ritter also appeared to be done with the character even saying, ‘I don’t think so. I feel like I’ve played her, you know? I feel really good about it. I feel good about closing the door.’
Now, the actress is gearing up to make her first TV return since her days as a Marvel superhero. Ritter is reuniting with her old boss, “Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23‘s” creator Nahnatchka Khan for a dark comedy series project, about a female serial killer.
Before the pandemic heated up, it was reported that Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, FX & HBO Max were all in a bidding war to scoop up the upcoming untitled dark comedy based on the book Serial Killer Anonymous by Charles Warady.
